The TA03 is a good drifter, but it is a very old design that used weak plastics, and was already out of production when drifting boomed. The TXT-1 and Clod Busters are monster trucks, not crawlers, and people had to do a lot of custom work to make them into crawlers. Yes it's true that Tamiya just wants to make money, but isn't that what all companies want? Nobody wants to lose money, and if Tamiya wanted to skimp on expenses, they could have used their current production axles (TXT-1, TLT-1, High-Lift, Clod. But instead they spent on R&D and tooling to come up with the CR01 which is all-new, sharing very few parts with other kits. And if Tamiya did not care about the crawling community, then they wouldn't offer "axle sets" for people who want to build their own crawlers. Previously, people had to buy whole kits just to get the axle parts.

They cared about the drift community. TT01D, TB03D are examples. They created the Drift Tech tyres, lighting systems drift body shells etc.
If the RC world is dominated by RC Drifting, expect Tamiya to pour in intense R&D to produce the ultimate Drift kit. But there are other prestigious
races/events like touring car championship that makes the brand more popular, the TRF 416WE comes to mind.
This time it's serious thus the High End Drift Chassis Kit. So prepare to spend for hopups and blings the Tamiya way he he he.
